The Design Circus is about growing the understanding and culture of design through education and the pulling together of the design community. We also aim to raise money and awareness for a range of local charities. Find out more about some of the charities we will be supporting below:


Muscular Dystrophy WA

Muscular Dystrophy WA was founded in 1967 by a small group of parents in conjunction with the Rotary Club of West Perth and Professor Byron Kakulas. Today, Muscular Dystrophy WA provides an extensive range of services for Western Australians impacted by muscular dystrophy.

In 2010, Muscular Dystrophy WA joined Muscular Dystrophy Foundation Australia. With the strength of the national Foundation behind us, Muscular Dystrophy WA will be able to deliver even greater support to the Western Australian muscular dystrophy community, as well as continuing to fund world leading research.


Shalom House Rehabilitation Centre, Perth, WA

Shalom House is a men's residential Rehabilitation Centre located in the heart of the Swan Valley in Perth WA, only 23 kms from the Perth CBD. Our focus is on bringing restoration to the lives of men and families in our community. We offer a holistic rehabilitation program while actively functioning within the community, our program is practical and hands on. We offer our services to anyone with a life controlling issue, whether it be addiction to substances such as drugs and Alcohol or people with anxiety, fear or emotional trauma. At Shalom House Rehabilitation Centre, Perth, our Residents always come first in the service we provide, we do what ever we can to provide a safe place for them to restore their lives.

The founder of Shalom House rehabilitation Centre WA, Peter Lyndon-James, understands the need for rehabilitation and how hard it is to break free from life’s controlling issues, having himself come from a background of 26 years in addiction to drugs and life controlling problems. Peter was institutionalised from the age of 9, addicted to drugs and came from a broken home, his struggle to break free from the life that held him captive was a process that taught him a great deal. 

Shalom House Rehabilitation Centre Perth is founded on Christian Principles and has a 30 bed facility, staffed by qualified and trained personnel, our staff and Volunteers do their upmost in caring for our clients.


Spare Parts Puppet Theatre

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is Australia’s flagship puppetry company and a driving force in the puppetry landscape in Australia since 1981.

Through puppetry they share stories that celebrate what it is to be human; connecting audiences across generations.

Over the course of its 34 year history they have entertained and enriched the lives of tens of thousands of audiences members both in Australia and abroad. 

The company is lead by Artistic Director Philip Mitchell and Associate Director Michael Barlow who work with artists from our well-established and ever-growing pool of Company Associates offering skills in writing, design & performance for puppetry.

Their annual artistic program includes performances at our home theatre in Fremantle, touring to schools, theatres and festivals across Australia and abroad, puppetry workshops for children and adults, and artists training and development programs.
